for violin and piano
Saying farewell is always fraught with difficult feelings, especially if it is farewell to a partner of 10 years. I wrote the piece soon after the breakup in a wistful 3 1/2 hours. As I wrote, I was feeling neither happy nor sad, but almost serene.
Since that time, I have arranged the piece in many different combinations. This version, written for my dear friend the extraordinary musician, Mark Peskanoff, is the most elaborate and extended with a coda and cadenza that says more definitely, The End.
